Benefits of Palliative Care

Palliative Care or Hospice? Know the Difference

Palliative Care

Palliative Care should begin at time of diagnosis with any serious illness, and is delivered concurrently with disease-directed treatment and therapies. The illness can be acute or chronic, and does not have to be terminal.

Hospice

Hospice care is focused on caring, not curing, and in most cases is provided in the patient’s home. Hospice begins after treatment of the disease is stopped and life expectancy is <6 months. The illness is considered terminal.
