Intrepid USA Palliative & Supportive Care offers relief from the symptoms and stress of living with a serious illness, improving quality of life for both the patient and the family. Palliative care is based on the needs of the patient, not on the patient’s prognosis, so it is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness.
Palliative Care should begin at time of diagnosis with any serious illness, and is delivered concurrently with disease-directed treatment and therapies. The illness can be acute or chronic, and does not have to be terminal.
Hospice care is focused on caring, not curing, and in most cases is provided in the patient’s home. Hospice begins after treatment of the disease is stopped and life expectancy is <6 months. The illness is considered terminal.
